Garlic & Mullein

  • Garlic – Garlic is a known herb that fights infections. It is a natural antibiotic found in nature and can be used to fight many infections or prevent infection.
  • Mullein – Mullein is great for congestion and mucus build up. The herb works to break up the mucus so that healing can begin.

How to Use Garlic Mullein Ear Oil

The key to herbal remedies are to use them EARLY and OFTEN in order for them to be effective.

At the first sign of an earache, lay down on your side and put a drop or two into your ear. Lay there for 7-10 minutes before rolling over and putting a couple of drops in the second ear. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day until the earache is gone.

The same process is also used for children. Be sure to put a towel on your pillow so that when you turn over, the oil from the first ear does not leak onto the pillow.

When to Use Garlic Mullein Ear Oil on Children

Ear infections are most common in small children because their sinus passages are much smaller than in an adult. It is easy for congestion to quickly back up into the ears and become infected.

In babies, watch for ear pulling or rubbing, red ears, sudden fussiness, or a runny nose with green, mucus snot (as opposed to clear drainage). Congestion in a baby from a cold or from teething will back up to the ears almost immediately. If you notice a runny nose (even if the other signs aren’t there yet), go ahead and treat the ears as a precaution.

In small children, if they are complaining of an ear ache, red warm ears, or congestion, go ahead and start treating their ears. Even if they don’t have an ear ache yet, it is best to begin treatment early as a precaution then to wait too long and start too late when an infection is too full blown to treat with garlic mullein ear oil.

The rule of thumb with small children is, once you notice congestion of any kind, begin treating the ears at least once a day to ward off an infection.

Why Does Garlic Mullein Ear Oil Work?

Garlic mullein ear oil works because it is a treatment that is placed directly on the source of pain, the inner ear. The mullein works to break up the mucus that is pushing into the ears, causing pain, and the garlic kills off infection. The olive oil is a gentle, healing oil that nourishes the inner ear.

Rather than ingesting an antibiotic orally that travels throughout the entire body just to address the inner ear, garlic mullein ear oil touches the source of pain and infection directly.

These ear oil drops are gentle, safe, and effective for babies up to adults. There is no way of “overdosing” the drops because it is a natural herb and not a synthetic antibiotic.

Where Do I Source Ingredients?

When creating an herbal remedy to treat illness, it is important to use top notch ingredients, especially for a remedy that is treating a delicate area such as the inner ear.

Choose your olive oil wisely. I get organic, cold-pressed olive oil from Azure Standard to use in my cooking and herbal remedies. If you want to learn more about how to shop high-quality, organic food in bulk for a great price, check out my Azure Standard Beginner’s Guide.

I also recommend wildcrafted dried mullein herb from Starwest Botanicals. You can order directly from their website or on Amazon.
